Mandatory Installation of Vehicle Tracking Devices: OMInsure's Response to Increased Vehicle Theft

The communication from OMInsure informs clients about mandatory measures to address increased vehicle theft, particularly for certain models. Effective immediately for new business and April 2024 renewals for Personal Lines, and May renewals for Commercial Lines and Agri renewals, customers must install approved early warning tracking devices on specified high-risk vehicles. The list of impacted models includes variants of Ford Ranger, Nissan NP200, Hyundai/Kia Bakkies, Isuzu KB/D-Max, Toyota Fortuner, Hilux, Landcruiser/Prado, Quantum, Etios, Verso, and Volkswagen Polo GTI. Exclusions apply for certain provinces. Failure to fit the tracking device within 14 days of cover inception will result in exclusion of theft and hijacking cover. Additional precautions are recommended, and queries can be directed to OMInsure.
